About a year later photographer Tom Porett printed the transparency onto high-contrast black-and-white film, painted over some details, then printed the touched-up negative on another sheet of high-contrast film. While developing this positive, he flashed a light on to reverse some tones and create the hard line edging. Next he painted over portions of the positive and copied it onto color-positive film.
